Creating a Leadership Development Program
One of the key requirements of an effective nonprofit leadership team is to make sure that everyone is “strategically aligned” to achieve your organization’s vision. Far too often organizations have leadership teams (executive team members, managers, supervisors, etc. ) that have evolved into a silo mentality with each member or department “doing their own thing.”
In order to succeed and not just survive, the CEO and their leadership teams must learn how to effectively create an organization wide leadership development program to achieve the level of success they desire.
DCM will provide the following services related to creating a leadership development program:
Step
1
- Review current management table of organization, current performance evaluation tools and reports, recent audited financial statements, current annual budget, recent annual community reports, current strategic plan along with current mission, vision and values statements.
- Confidentially interview individually the CEO and members of the Executive Team to ascertain their perspectives, hopes and dreams on developing a leadership development program.
Schedule a virtual group meeting of all middle management team members to gain their perspective, concerns and hopes as well. - Provide a written report on our findings and recommendations within 8 business days of concluding our interviews and schedule a meeting with the CEO to discuss our report.
- Following our meeting with the CEO, meet with members of the Executive Team to discuss the leadership behaviors needed by all members of the executive team, middle management and staff to achieve your vision and related strategic goals.
Step
2
- Have the CEO and Chief Human Resource Officer announce the implementation of your new Leadership Development Program – One Vision – One Voice.
Step
3
- Develop and implement a series of bi-weekly team virtual workshops to create a high-performing leadership team, including, but not limited to:
- Effective communication
- Relationship building
- Emotional intelligence
- Team-building
- Dealing with resiliency and adversity
- Developing transformational leadership competencies
- The importance of building a healthy workplace Culture
- Meeting bi- weekly with the CEO to provide updates and gather feedback.
- Monthly workshops with the Executive team to accomplish the following:
- Build trust within your leadership team,
- Engage leaders to become strategically aligned, and
- Help lead cultural change
Step
4
- A survey will be developed at the conclusion of our engagement and distributed to all members of your leadership team to gain your perspective and suggestions, if any, to improve the program. The survey results will be shared with your CEO and Executive Team.
- During our engagement, we will help identify possible mentors and coaches from your team to lead and support your leadership development program going forward.
Dennis recommends a 90 day engagement. Fees range from $3500 to $5000 a month depending upon the size of your leadership team.
“From the moment we began collaborating with Dennis, it was clear that he possessed a unique ability to connect with people. His personable and approachable demeanor made it easy for everyone on our team to engage openly and honestly. We felt heard and valued, which created a safe space for discussion and exploration of our challenges.
Dennis’s non-judgmental style was particularly refreshing. In a field where difficult decisions often arise, he provided guidance without imposing his views. Instead, he facilitated conversations that allowed us to weigh our options thoughtfully, ultimately empowering us to make tough decisions with confidence. His approach encouraged our team to reflect deeply on our vision, goals and values, leading to outcomes that were not only strategic but also aligned with our mission and vision.
His ability to foster collaboration among board members and our executive team proved invaluable in creating a collective vision for our future.
In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend Dennis Miller as a non-profit leadership consultant for boards and CEOs in the behavioral health field. His personable nature, non-judgmental approach, and strategic insight have greatly benefited our organization.”
