Shelley Feist

Managing Director

Shelley Feist, Managing Director, is a veteran nonprofit senior executive. She served as Executive Director of the Partnership for Food Safety Education where she focused on developing and delivering evidence-based content and digital campaigns; growing a national network of health and food safety educators; and organizational development and effectiveness. She has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and has served as an expert source for print (New York Times, Martha Stewart Living) and broadcast media on the topic of safe food handling for consumers. Shelley helped build the national culture program strategy at the philanthropic Pew Charitable Trusts in Philadelphia.

She has worked for two U.S Senators, focusing on appropriations and domestic policy. As Director of Government Liaison and Special Assistant to the President at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Shelley played an active role in the development and passage of legislation that consolidated operational authority at the Center and led to Federal appropriations for maintenance, renovation, and educational programming.

Shelley is the principal of Feist Strategy LLC, founded to provide content strategy and leadership narrative support to nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. Shelley graduated with a BS degree in communications from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, MN. Shelley participated in the Fall 2022 cohort of the Interim Executive Director training at The Support Center, New York. She completed a Design Thinking certificate with Kellogg Executive Education in February 2022.

Shelley resides in NW Washington, DC. She recently joined the Board of Directors of The Fashion Connection, creating connections to support the US sustainable fashion movement.
